Barhee date farm

I never really enjoyed alcohol with food. As someone who is a foodie, I often felt that drinks ruined the taste of my meal. While exploring alternatives, I became interested in dates as an ingredient, which eventually led me to buy a farm and grow them myself to understand their character at the source.

Working at the farm

Spending time with dates at the farm gave me a deeper understanding of the ingredient itself. How it behaves, how it changes, and how much balance matters when you start at the source.

Learning through experimentation

The first batch of Barhee dates are harvested. I tested different fermentations, recipes and profiles, slowly moving away from sweetness and towards clarity and balance. The only rule was that it had to work with food, even when the food had heat and complexity.

Rethinking what mead could be

The focus shifted from making a traditional mead to shaping something lighter, more social, and better suited to modern tables.

Bringing BARHI into focus

The drink took its final shape, refined into two expressions, Original and Spiced, designed for food, conversation, and shared moments.

Launch in the UK

BARHI continues to grow through new tables, new conversations, and the people who choose to share it. The goal is simple: make food-first drinking feel normal, not niche.

OUR DATES

Soft and golden, Barhee dates are best enjoyed fresh, when they're slightly sweet with a gentle crispness that feels refreshing rather than heavy. Their flavor is naturally mellow and rounded, and as they ripen, they soften into something even more comforting — familiar, easy, and quietly satisfying.
